No matter what you do for work, no matter what religion you follow and no matter who or what you love. We all have pride and we should never be ashamed to show it off. Whether you love rainbows or just what it symbolizes, or maybe you are the quiet type, there are many ways you can display your pride on your nails. Make a statement just by simply polishing your nails.

What I am going to show you in this article is a variety of ideas that will help you show your pride this summer.

Some nail polish trends are bright and showy. Then there are those that are a little more subtle. I am going to try and show you some of those ideas and give a little tutorial if you will, on each one.

The pictures above are showing you a simple neon orange and green with a little yellow. I started with my basic beginning which you can find on my Keeping it Natural post. Then I polished all but my pinky with the neon orange. I used a couple of decals on my thumb. A cotton swab was used on the index finger(a dotting tool can be used if you like the more defined dots)because I like the balloon affect that it makes.

I polished a few green and yellow stripes on the middle finger. For some reason I thought it would be nice if I just left one of them plain orange. Finally I polished the pinky with the neon green and then made a stamping of sea animals in the neon orange on top of the green.

Rainbow Pride

This next one is one of my favorites. It is a time consuming design so, I will give you a few pictures along the way. First I am going to show you the finished beauties, then I will get into the details along the way.

I did the left hand in a horizontal rainbow. Begin with your basic clean up to get ready for your new design. Then you are going to want a base white so your colors will be bright. Next do the yellow because it is easily covered by the other colors. One good stripe across your fingernail.

Let each polishing dry before you do the next color. Then do your stripe of orange on one side and the green on the other. Try to be as straight (LOL) as you can but don’t worry too much, the lines in between will be hidden by the tape that you are going to apply. Of course we finish with the red at the top and the blue at the bottom.

Now you can apply some Simply Peel before you start to make clean up easier but I just used a cotton swab and acetone after I was done this time.

This is what it will look like before you apply your stripes of tape.

There are many ways that you can do the tape process and you are going to have to play around to find out which way you like best. I cut 1 to 2 inch pieces and then apply them where they need to go. Trimming after they are all put into place.

I also use corresponding colors of tape for each stripe. Blue in between the blue and green, green in between the green and yellow, yellow in between the yellow and orange and red in between the orange and red. I did not have orange tape so it worked out perfectly.

With the right hand I did the polishing process a little differently. I started with the simply peel, mainly because I am right handed and I knew it was going to be messy.

As you can see, I did the red and blue sides first.

Added the yellow in the middle.

Then filled in the orange and then the green.

Of course, finished with the striping of the tape.

Can you see how the tape covers the wiggly stripes that I had? To finish up the right hand I added my small letter decals. Then when all is dry and cleaned up I add my top coat so everything will last more than a day.

Tip–(I have found that when tape or decals are used it is best to use gloves whenever your hands are in water.)

By the Shore

For those that like the beach. This one is pretty simple.

Start with a white base.

Do a two tone blue ombre and then add a star or seashell.

Finish with your top coat.

For those of us that either work with this fruit or just love to eat it.

Start with a red base.

Polish your watermelon green around the finger part of the nail.

Polish in a few black seeds and add your top coat.

Now here we have peace, with my favorite colors. Start with a base white polish.

Draw your peace symbol lines with your best black polish.

Fill in the white areas with your favorite colors.

Don’t forget your top coat.

Everybody loves a flower or two. Start with a white base.

Give yourself a green stem and a leaf or two.

Polish yourself a flower with your favorite colors.

If you draw like I do then you might want to use flower decals. Top coat it and done.

I used a pretty sea foam green and a pale green for this simple blend.

You will need a wide bristle brush for this. Click here if you need one.

Brush sideways across your fingernail with your first color. Stop at the middle.

Then the same thing on the other side with the other color. Meeting in the middle.

Top coat for your finish.

In Conclusion

I have to say Happy Day to all of you prideful people!! I hope you will enjoy one or two of these designs, I loved how most of them turned out for me. Sometimes you get more out of things when you put more into them.

Here is to beautiful nails and Blessed Be.

My favourite one is By the Shore. Blue is my colour, so I guess that’s the main reason. 😀

I’m not that good with nail polish, though. Do you have any training or videos to recommend for learning how to do that? I had to have my nails short for my previous job, so now that I can grow them long, I’m excited to try new things on them!

I am happy to hear that you can grow your nails long and try some exciting new ways to polish your nails. Give this one a try if you have the time…  It is really fun and it will get easier the more you do it. For other step by step instructions go to my DIY’s tab at the top of the website. Let me know if there is a specific design that you would like to try in the future and I will do my best to get you a tutorial.

Love the nails, especially the neon ones. I’ve always been pretty interest in nail art and did go and get some professionally done a few times but now in university, it’s a bit hard to find time to do it. Sadly, I don’t have the skills to paint them myself. Is there any designs for beginners like myself to try out? Thanks!

      Hi Ann

You don’t have to have skills necessarily to try the last few on the page but check these out they might be easier– ‎

Maybe you can give them a try when you need a study break. Good luck and Blessed Be
